Thanks for stopping by the new EMR thoughts website. Our goal is to provide the best (or at least most random) thoughts about EMR and EHR on the net. There’s no guarantee what you might find on here. They might be long exposes on EMR and EHR or they might be a short one line sentence or quote. Probably more of the later though.
This will be an open place where myself and others will have the platform to express strong opinions and ideas. Sure we’ll be respectable and professional, but hopefully this blog will stretch the envelope a little bit and causes people to think a little bit harder about the future of EMR and EHR.
It may take us a little bit to get all set up, but watch for great Healthcare IT and EMR related content coming your way really soon. Until then, be sure to go and check out the other Healthcare Scene blogs.
Hello,
I would like to take the implementation specialist then the tech support courses through the workforce training program. I am concerned because they are supposed to offer internships but when I read in depth, there are very few. I tried to get a volunteer job here in Northern California and they thought I was crazy. Ofcourse I have not real HIT experience, just power PC user and expert user EpiCare in a clinic. I’ve been an RN for 20years and used EMR as a nurse. What are your thoughts about the experience required part of getting hired after the program? Thanks, Barbara
Hi Barbara,
This is a hard question since the first graduates are just entering the workplace. So, I’m not sure we have a good picture of how they’re going to do. I haven’t heard about an internship program with it, but I might have just missed it.
It sounds like you’re doing a lot of the right things. Just keep banging away at it. Job searches are such a challenge since it’s really about matching timing with your skills to create the right opportunity. The only way I know how to deal with that is to keep grinding away at it.
I hope that helps.
